Cows and Legacy farm

Our little farmer/rancher getting his rest. :)

After we went golfing, we went to the pasture where Hudson cow is.  His cow and about 7 others were together because they haven't had their babies yet.  We drove up to them and they were at the water tank.  They soon walked off and Hudson wanted to 'hip' them.  To him, that is when a rancher moves the cow by yelling "Hip, hip, hip" and using a stick or whip.  He does this to Oasis, cats, goats, pigs, and even to people. ha ha!  Anyway, Lily and Hudson walked into the pen while Matt and I stayed by the water tank.  They were following the cows and one cow turned around and made one step towards them.  Hudson started screaming and running back towards us.  There was one mud/manure hole by the water tank.  Of course that is where he ran.  Oh boy!  His foot was stuck and his shoe came off and he is hysterical.  He fell over and he was up to his elbows in mud/manure.  Ick! I was giggling and just had to get a picture.  The cows were already walking away at this point, so he was in no danger.  I got my phone and snapped this picture after he made it out of the hole.

Poor baby!

He was then so upset that he was dirty.

You can't tell by the picture, but he is still screaming.  The water was really cold but it was our only way of cleaning him.  He was finally clean and in his underwear.  ha ha!

The cows were like, "What is up with that kid?!"

This was the cow that stepped towards him.  She was trying to intimidate us in the gator too.

Family Sunday checking cows.

So many Sundays growing up was spent just like this but in a pick-up sitting on someone's lap.  We would all cram into the pick-up after lunch and drive around to the pastures.  It was hot, bumpy, and crowded which always made me fall asleep.  :)  We didn't have a gator to ride in and a phone to take pictures, but it was similar to this picture. :)  Oh the memories.

We then drove to our Legacy Farm!  I am trying to get pictures of the different stages of our first crop.

June 7

June 14, 2015

It grew from Lily's knees to her belly button in one week.  We had gotten so much rain that Dad had to wait awhile to cultivate or ridge.  He was able to get in this week, so I am anxious to see how it has grown since then.

Our little farmer was tired again and didn't get into the corn this time.  He is now wearing the right seed corn hat. :)

The night of June 13th, Mav went to check cows and sent us this picture.  Hudson's cow finally had her calf (one of the last ones!).  She had a bull.  Hudson was so proud and could have just stared at the picture all night.  I love Lily and Hudson's excitement with their cows/calves.

Matt, Hud, Mav, and Maguire went to the pasture to give shots and tags to the new calves.  So, Hud got to meet his new baby and pet him.

Matt said Hud wanted to stay in the Gator because he felt safer.  :)
