Preschool Open House

Tonight we had Lily's Preschool Open House.  She is going to be attending Blessed Sacrament in GI.  She is so, so, soooo excited.  Mommy and Daddy aren't ready for her to be such a big girl yet, but every new step with Lily has been fun!

We had a picnic in the Jubilee center first.  We sat with one of Lily's BFFs, Aysha.

Silly girls waiting for the potluck picnic.

After supper, we got to tour her classroom.  She really enjoyed the dress up clothes.  Good thing Mrs. Thede knows what little girls like! :)

Here is her cubby!!!

Lily's other BFF, Paislee!  All three of Heather's girls will be giving Mrs. Thede a hard time on M-W!  :)  ha ha, They are a hoot when all three of them are together.

Here she found her birthday ice cream cone.

Lily and Mrs. Thede.  It is a weird feeling to be the new mom sending her baby to school.  Lily just loves her teacher and wishes school started now!  We have a calendar on the fridge that Mrs. Thede gave us to help her countdown until the first day of school, September 7th.  I am even taking a personal day that morning to be able to take her to school and pick her up.  I get nervous for her just thinking about it.  I know she will do great and I am sure she will love it.

First Dance Class!

Lily started dance today!  She will go every Monday for half an hour.  She was so excited to get her dance clothes.  Her friend Aysha is also in her dance class, so they had a great time.  I can't believe my baby is in dance.  Music is in her bones, so I am sure this will be a great activity for her this year!!!

Erin's baby shower

We went to O'Neill this weekend for Erin's baby shower.  Erin is one of my best friends from college.  In fact, she was how Matt and I met each other.  Our ongoing joke since we have been married is "Sooo... are you pregnant?"  That was always one of the first questions we would ask each other.  So, needless to say, months ago when Erin called me, we small talked for a little bit and then I asked her.  :)

I am so excited for Erin to become a Mommy.  She looked adorable and so ready to see her bundle of joy.  The baby is due the middle of October and I can't wait to meet him/her!

I am going to make my guess:  Erin, I think you are going to have a girl.  :)

Omaha Zoo

On Sunday morning, we decided to head to the Omaha Zoo.  We didn't get a chance to go last summer, so we wanted to make sure we made it there this year.  We had been to the San Diego zoo in December, but in all honesty, the Omaha Zoo is almost as good!

I uploaded all my pictures and realized I did them in the wrong order.  I really prefer things in chronological order, so this really bothers me, but I didn't want to take the time to copy/paste/delete.  So, as you view the pictures start at the bottom, ha ha!!!

I am so proud of her for trying the bridge.  There was a long line behind them because she was going so slow and taking her time.

I love how clear my pictures are from my camera!

Our self family portrait.  Lily just spotted a sting ray!!  :)

 She loves to pose

We could not get her to get any closer to the glass.  She was a little unsure of those penguins!

The zookeeper was hanging out with the gorilla.  It was neat to watch them interact.

Lily really wanted to see the zebras.  So we made our way over there and this was the lone zebra.  A little disappointing, but Lily says it was her favorite.  :)

 So tall!!!

I didn't get very many good pictures from the Butterfly house, but Matt and I thought that was our favorite.  We had never been in there and they are freakishly big butterflies.  There displays were cool too.  I was in an Entomology course at UNL and it was hard to pin butterflies.  I really liked collecting bugs, I know, weird right?!

Our sweet girl

Father/Daughter Day

Ducks Unlimited was having their Annual Green Wings event for kids, and Matt was so excited to take Lily.  He invited Josh and Morgan as well, so they loaded up in the jeep Saturday morning and were off.
They painted duck houses, canoed, and signed up for prizes.  Lily made it home with a hat, pins, stickers, and a shirt.  After Green Wings they went to Ron's, Josh's friend's house by the river.  He had an airboat, so they took it for a spin.

Phew! ZZZZzzzzzzzz

School is here and I am exhausted!  It is nice to get back into a routine, but I am beat.  Poor Matt and Lily haven't gotten a nice meal from me the last few days.

I am having fun with my new kiddos.  They are so excited to be there and we are able to have fun.  Can you believe that I still got nervous my first day of school?  Will that ever end?  ha ha!  Lily is adjusting to going to Heathers all day and Daddy is adjusting to a tired wife.

Phew!!!  The first week is almost over!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, I will go to bed soon!  :)

Crayon Peace Sign

Well, due to my blog stalking, I wanted to see what Pinterest actually was.  Everyone was talking about it and posting things from it, so I had to see what all the buzz was!  Boy, I shouldn't have.  I am finding way too many things I want to do.  If you are curious, I will warn you that Pinterest is addicting.

My classroom theme is Peace and Groovy!  After stalking blogs, I found someone else, Mrs. Dillard,  that is doing that same theme and she had  some great printables that I am going to use.  It got me really motivated to put more peace, groovy, tie-dye and fun stuff in my room.  So, I went searching and I really hope this stuff looks good.  The below idea was a combination of things I found on Pinterest.  I saw a wreath made out of crayons and I also saw a peace sign drawn with crayons (so colorful).  So, I decided to do a peace sign out of crayons!!!  I was so excited once I figured out how I was going to do it.

I searched and searched my classroom for what I could trace for circles.  Globe, bucket, jar, fan, clock!  So, the bottom of my fan was the big circle and the clock in the hallway was my inside circle!  I used a yard stick for the lines.

I covered the peace sign with painting tape.  I didn't want the brown showing through and it also makes it more sturdy.

I put a ribbon at the top and glued it on.  Then I started the rainbow of crayons!
Lily and I had to go get more crayons because I underestimated the amount of crayons it would take.  5 boxes later, here it is!!!

I want to put it somewhere in my class that it is noticeable.  I wish I could put a nail in the front door, hmmmmmm.  ha ha!

I have already started a couple other things I found on Pinterest.  I wish I would have found this site earlier in the summer.  Tomorrow is officially my first day back to work.  We have the big shindig at the high school with all the staff.  Man, it seems like I was just saying goodbye to my kiddos.  Now, I get brand new ones!  Although I am sad that summer is over, I am excited to see their smiling (nervous) faces on Wednesday morning.  They will be my new Groovy First Graders!!! :)

Swimming date with Heather!

Heather and her lovely 3 year olds!
Lily, Aysha, Paislee

We are so thankful to have a wonderful daycare for Lily to attend.  We trust that Lily is being taken care of and loved.  She has made some good friends at Heathers.

I love Hastings Aquacourt.  It is so good for little kids!

Swimming lessons were good for Lily.  She has more confidence in the water and she has so much fun!
Getting ready to jump in together!

We need to work on not doing a belly flop every time!

Snack time!
