Some of the Newell teachers and husbands participated in the Grand Island Games. It was the last weekend in July. The first night's game were at the YMCA and on Saturday, we had events at GISH and Westside lanes. On Friday, we had a ping pong team, basketball team, and trivia team.
They had fun.
Megan and I before her Trivia time. Hayley and I between our games.
Dream team in Pink!
We won our first game and lost the 2nd. :(
After our events were over, a few of us went out to eat and for some drinks.
The ladies
The guys!
We couldn't be out too late, we had an event at 8:00 am on Saturday. We met Megan and John at GISH for our Adventure Race. We had no idea what it entailed, but we were ready! They gave us a paper that had 4 places we had to stop. 2 of the places required all 4 of us to be there. The Barnett's went to Tornado Hill and we went to the Veteran's Home. We then met at GICC.
A little tired. When John and Megan got there, we had to answer 20 Trivia questions. Then all 4 of us went to Grace Abbott pool and then to GISH.
Matt and I's route. Megan and John ended up running more....good job guys! We had fun!
We then had Brett, Megan, Brian, and Hayley in the Obstacle Course race.
Good job team!
Then Amy and John had shot put. We were there watching and realized that 2 more of us could do it. So, Brett and I gave it our all. ha ha
2 other people were in the frisbee golf at Stolley Park and they did great. They got 3rd! Way to go Liz and Sam!
Some of us met up at McDonald's for breakfast before our next events.
We went to Westside Lanes for the rest of the afternoon. Matt and Brian played pool first. We had a lot of down time at the Westside lanes. The volleyball games took a long time in between.
They won their first and lost the second.
Fun times!
Nice!!! I had so much fun playing volleyball. I miss it a lot!
Our team!
We won our first game, but lost our second. :( I think there is a trend here.
We hadn't signed up for bowling, but they let us have a team anyway. Matt, Amy, Brian, and Megan were our bowlers.
We also had not signed up for Tug-o-war, but we made up a coed team, and........lost pretty quick! ha ha
That evening we hung out with Brett, Hayley, Brian, and Asia. We went to Giltner for pizza and then Tiff's bar in Doniphan. What a fun couple of days! I can't wait to do it again next year.
During our fun weekend, our kids were well taken care of. Lily had Adysen's birthday party on Saturday. They dressed up like princesses and got their hair and nails done at Xenon.
She had a great time!
Then my parents and sister took the kids and some other family from Washington to the Buffalo County fair. Virgie sent me these pictures during the night. I am bummed I couldn't take them, but love that they had this opportunity.
