Family trip to Colorado (3/10-13)

During my spring break, Lily also had the Friday off.  Matt was able to take some vacation so we decided to go to Denver, Colorado for a few days.  We left on Thursday night and drove all the way to Denver.

We are off!
They are both good travelers.  They did well and slept for half of the way there.

Silly boy in window of hotel taking medicine. :)

On Friday morning we drove to Estes Park.  It was a little chilly the further we drove into the park.  It was beautiful!  We got out a few times to go hiking. :)

no one told me my glasses were crooked.  Geez!

We were walking on snow and ice most of the hike.

Family portrait with the timer. :)

So beautiful

Lily got good use from her new binoculars from Santa.

We were constantly looking for wildlife as we drove around the park, especially elk.  We didn't see anything but a few birds, squirrels, and rabbits.  Then as we were leaving the park and saw some cabins, this is what we saw.  :)

4 elk were enjoying the grass by a playground.  ha ha!

We then walked the main street of Estes and checked out all the little shops.

We enjoyed watching them stretch and wrap taffy.  We sampled and bought our share of taffy.  Yum!

We wore her out!

We stayed at an Embassy Suites (we love their breakfast) and they have a happy hour with drinks and snacks.  So, we had a few snacks and people watched.

We had to take some selfies. :)

They then went swimming that evening.  It was crazy with some high school girl cheerleaders in there. ha ha

On Saturday morning we went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  Wow, it was full of learning.  :)  Enjoy the pics.

Animals
They had life like displays for about any animal you could think of.

A dinosaur display.

Health and Fitness

They each had a profile and would put their card in a different machine for heart rate and other features.

Anaconda

Then we saw the dinosaurs!

The museum wore us out, but it was very interesting.  I didn't take any pictures in the rock section and both the kids liked that.  :(  We went to the gift shop and Lily got a science experiment kit and Hud picked out shiny rocks.

We then walked the 16th Street Mall in Denver.  There was live music and many people walking to and from shops and bars.  They were celebrating St. Pat's.  The kids definitely saw their share of interesting people.  We then ate supper at Hard Rock Cafe.

Their meals came on guitar plates.

Silly kids.  Well, we then left for the hotel.  We headed home the next morning.

Neither of them fell asleep on the way home.  Lily kept track of the license plates we saw from Denver to Doniphan.  That definitely kept us all occupied.

I loved our little family vacation.
