Basement progress

The first week of January, Matt started a lot of the BIG work downstairs.  He finished framing and did electrical work.

The family room with the guest bedroom and storage room (soon playroom) behind the framed walls.

Other view of family room at the bottom of stairs.  The den (man cave) is behind the recliner.

 Matt showing the bathroom.

Inside the den.  Matt started building the bar, but stopped to work on the more important stuff.  :)
He then started insulating.  He got it done in one weekend.  He was wanting to get it done before he spent the week in North Dakota.  Then it would be ready for the dry wallers to come.

The den all insulated.  There is a closet where Matt will keep his hunting gear.
(This is where I come in.  I helped clean up the floor and sweep.  Not much, I know!)

The long back wall of the family room.  We put up a plastic wall so all our storage things wouldn't get dusty.

The view of the opposite wall.  This is where the tv will be hung.  Matt made a little cubby at the bottom for the cable box and sound system.

Guest bedroom closet.

We now have a bathtub/shower.  The plumbing is almost done.
So, while Matt was in North Dakota, Lily and I gave him the run down of how the basement was coming.  They hung all of the dry wall and they finally started looking like rooms.

Matt got home on Friday and was thrilled with the progress even though he saw it on Skype!!  :)  We shopped (for the millionth time) for more stuff in the basement.  We picked out tile for the bathroom and behind the bar.  Matt ordered the doors, trim, vanity, and carpet.  Wow, this is all going to happen.

This whole week the dry wallers were taping, mudding, and sanding.  It has left our house a dusty mess, but they did a great job.  the ceiling is done and now it is ready to paint.

We finally decided on the colors on Thursday.  Matt called the painter and geez, he came and primed on Friday.  Lily and I couldn't believe it when we walked downstairs.  I didn't know he was going to do it that soon.  Matt has his own timeline that I am not always aware of.  ha ha!

Matt tiled the bathroom today.  He does such a great job.

He also tiled behind the bar.  I took the picture too soon, he is finished with it now! :)

A look at the TV wall.
So, now that the tile is done, I guess they are going to paint this week and possibly trim.  Matt will be in North Dakota for a whole week again, so he wanted to get done what HE needed to this weekend.  Lily and I will have to show him the progress again on Skype.  There is only electricity in the mechanical room, by the bathroom.  So, it will be nice when we can turn the lights on and see everything with out flashlights when I get home from work.

I am starting to stress a little about the baby's room.  When the guest room is done, we can finally move everything down there and bring up the crib.  I know it will all get done and I need to be patient.  This will also take a toll on our bank account, so I NEED to pace myself.  Good thing we have all the baby essentials already.

Well, I am sure the downstairs will look a lot different next week, so be ready for another update!!! :)

I can't believe I am 26 weeks already!  My last doctor's appointment was at 24 weeks and I was measuring 25.5 to 26.  Yikes, this baby is measuring bigger than Lily was (9.1 lbs.)  As long as the baby is healthy, we should be okay!  :)  Now that I am showing more, the baby is a topic in my classroom more often.  I think it is so fun to share this with them.  May will be here before we know it!

Kids say the cutest things!

This morning on the way to school Lily and I were visiting.

Lily: "You and I are BOTH going to school.  Is yours called preschool?"

Me: "I know, but no, I teach 1st grade at an Elementary school."

Lily: "I want to be in 1st grade."

So then I went on to tell her that she will have another year after the baby is born of preschool.  She was okay with that and then she asked:

Lily: "Where do I go after that?"

Me: "You will go to Kindergarten in Doniphan."

Lily:  She was quiet for a little bit and then asked, "Do we plant things there?"

Ha ha, it took me a couple seconds to see her thought process, but then I got it.  I'll just say there is no explanation for why it is called Kindergarten.  Aren't kids the cutest?? :)

Gotta New Ride!!!

Matt and I have been wanting a new car for awhile and were set on the new Ford Explorer.  Matt got a call from a car dealer in Lexington that they had a new black one.  So, on Monday (during the awful Husker game) we drove there and purchased our new car!!!  We traded in the Jeep and we didn't even look back! :)

What a beauty!

We finally have leather interior.  That will be so much easier to clean up.  Well wait, we have strict instructions from Matt to NOT eat in the new car. :)

It has a 3rd row.  So 7 passengers can ride.  Lily has claimed the back row of seats.  She loves it back there.  I am not sure if I do because we have to yell back and forth from one another to hear.  :)  Hopefully when the baby comes, she will sit by him/her and comfort them! :)

The dash.  It even has the back up camera.
We are so excited to have our new ride!  Our Jeep had so many miles on it and we wanted to get something bigger for when we have the baby.  Merry Christmas to us!

Baby Bump pics #2

Here is an update on Mommy!  I am now 23 weeks and doing great.  I have not converted to maternity clothes yet, but I definitely should, ha ha!  The baby is sitting a lot lower than I remember Lily being.

We have not started the baby's room yet, but we want to get started on the basement first so we have a place for everything.  So, as I am blogging, Matt is working on the basement.  Seems fair, right?!?  We have seemed to pass a COLD bug around our house starting with Lily and now ending with me.  Matt stayed home one day this week and I was not very much fun last night.  Hopefully I feel fine the rest of this pregnancy because it's no fun not being able to take anything other than Tylenol.

Elsbury Christmas 2011

We celebrated with the Elsbury side on the New Year's Eve weekend.  We went up on Friday night and were able to stay until Sunday.  So, we had a nice relaxing weekend with family.  On Saturday, Jackie's side of the family came over for lunch.  It was a house full.  Later that afternoon we opened gifts.

Lily and Landon passed out gifts to everyone.

We thought we did a great job picking out Jackie's gift, a one cup coffee/drink maker.  But, it turns out she just got one from someone that week.  Bummer, now she is will have to return it.

Lily's art table.  She loves it!

My favs!

I think Landon likes the camping chair we got him.

Grandma got Lily and Landon hats and they were a hit.  Landon is a penguin and Lily is an owl. :)
That evening we went to Atkinson to visit Grandma Darla.  Then we celebrated the New Year at Mark and Jackie's.  The sparkling grape juice was yummy, ha ha!!!

On Sunday morning,
Next, we had a Just Dance 3 marathon!  :)  It was entertaining.

Happy New Years everyone!!!
