Uplifting Athletes 5K and mile

On July 19th, our family ran in the Uplifting Athletes 5K and kids mile for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research.  Virgie designed the shirts in memory of our sweet Mullen.  We raised some money in his name that went towards the research.  We didn't know what to expect.......but it was AMAZING!

WIDOWS family with Jack Gangwish.  He was originally from Shelton.  All the Husker players and cheerleaders were so kind and took pictures and gave autographs.

Kids are ready!  The start and finish line was right in front to the stadium.

The players lined the start and finish, some players ran  with the kids and some were stationed through out the run to give hight fives and motivate them.

Maguire finished first!

They did great!  They got free footballs to get autographs on.

Love this!  I thought he would be scared, but he loved it! :)  Go Big Red!!!

One for the players had a puppy too.  Win win!

Delanie and Guire were in charge of the kids while us adults did the 5K run/walk.

We were off!  The beginning of the race was kind of hard because there were a lot of people trying to squeeze into a little area.  Matt finished in 24:00 and I was 26:35.  During the race we were high five and cheered on by the players, coaches, and cheerleaders.

Matt got 54th and I got 99th out of 423

John finishing!

We did it!!!  Hud wasn't in the greatest mood.  Go figure.

The players were sooo nice.

She loved getting autographs.  I was proud of her because that is out of her comfort zone.

Mullen's sweet picture on the back.  :)  I think we are definitely doing this again next year.

We had stayed at the Embassy a few blocks from the stadium so we invited everyone over for breakfast and swimming.

We then went to J & L's loft.

Every time our kids get together this is a common occurrence.  Friendly fighting. :)

Uplifting Athlete's Goal was $30,000 and they raised $34,456!

Awesome.  We are so glad to be apart of it.

Here is a link the Husker Max video.  The back of our shirts **Mullen's face** made the video. :)  and they posted it on Facebook.

What a great weekend!

Love you Mullen John and I pray for all the children and families that are affected by this disease.
