Road Construction

We have known for a long time that the roads in our neighborhood were going to be torn up to fix the compaction.  We (and the rest of our neighbors) were truly dreading it.

Take a look at our beautiful culdesac on June 5th.

They started at the end of the culdesac on June 6th and headed our way.  They removed all of the concrete first.

When I got home on Thursday, we had a great sandbox in front of our house! :)

Then they started digging down to the water line (5 ft.)

At certain times in the day, I couldn't find Lily.  She enjoyed watching them work!  I took this picture from her window.

Then they had to dig down to the sewer line (15 ft.)

We liked to sit on the porch, eat snacks, and watch the progress.

They filled the hole and compacted the dirt and this is what it looks like Friday (14th) afternoon.  I think they went pretty fast!  (A lot faster than my car.....I still don't have it!)  They will be framing and then pouring concrete next week.

Don't get too excited, because soon they will be tearing up the road that goes East/West.  As I am getting pretty used to parking on the street, its only been a week and I have had a rental car.  I am not looking forward to this the whole summer.  :(

No Training Wheels!

Lily has been wanting her training wheels off for a long time.  She finally felt like she was ready.  It was bed time, but we got out there anyway!

Such a helpful Daddy!

She's doing it!!!  Yay Lily!

We did grass first so she would have more of a cushion if she fell.

Way to go!

Josh heard all the excitement so he wanted to celebrate with her too!

All the CATs got parked here that evening to begin work on our culdesac in the morning.  We wanted to make sure we used our road before it was gone!

He was a proud little brother!

Ducks and Geese

"What are we going to do today, mommy?"
This is the question I have gotten everyday.  I want to be able to look back on the summer and have some fun times with the kids.  So, we took bread to the Duck pond in Grand Island.  (first we went to the DMV to get my new license....that's fun with two kids, let me tell ya!)  It was nice and relaxing with nowhere to rush off to. :)

He kept yelling at Lily and saying hi to the birds.

A family of geese.

A family of geese and a family of ducks.  We loved feeding them!  The little ducks are sooo fast!

Lily thinks they really liked her!  Could it be the loaf of bread she had?  ha ha

She is surrounded by every type of bird there was.  She didn't realize they were all behind her until she turned around....

Woah!  she said.  She never got scared of all of them being that close to her.  She loved it!

He finally fell asleep.  We had a great day together! :)

Fun with friends

Summer has barely began and we have already had many fun times with our neighbors and friends.  If you just go outside someone is willing to play ha ha, or drink with ya! :)

"Can you see my belly in this?"  He got this for his birthday and poor thing has already outgrown the shirt!  ha ha

He liked the pool, but would rather be outside of it splashing and watching the big kids.

Zoe is the new little girl on the block.  She is a cutie!

Her brother Tyce is a year older than Lily.  It has been fun to have new kids to play with!

On Thursday, I had the first Newell Playdate at my house.  I didn't sign up for a date in the summer, so I took our first available Thursday since school was out.  Not all the mommies could come, but it was still fun.

Look at all those babies!

The youngest - sweet Brynlee!

I couldn't get a good picture of the 3 one year olds.  Little stinkers.

Aubree showing her walking skills, the two boys just don't care yet! ha ha

big kids

Paisley is such a sweet little mommy.

Lily and Braxton.

We will have many more playdates this summer!  Can't wait!

New Furniture

We took advantage of the Berkshire Hathaway weekend at NE Furniture Mart.  We got a new bedroom set and mattress (KING!) and leather sectional and recliner.

Straw!

Hudson hit another milestone!!! :)

Look Grandma, I CAN drink from a straw now! :)  Now he wants to drink everything we have.  ha ha

Memorial Day

We hosted a neighborhood BBQ on Memorial Day.

Love him!  This is the first time his car has been outside. :)

We are so blessed to have 2 sweet children! :)

So many great kids to play with!

Fun before the rain! :)

Tucker sitting with all the kids! :)

It is fun to have young families living around us.  This summer is going to be so much fun.
